Lifehacker posted this video for our perusal, which I fully support your watching/listening to.  I listened to it while typing up notes, which is truly wonderful in terms of multi-tasking. :)

My thoughts: Tim Ferriss is an asshole.  I’ve read his “4 hour work-week,” which was so filled with ego that the content of his book was last due to tone.  It was fun to read, initially, but there is only so much of him that’s truly enjoyable.  The clip showed that he is a competitive, entitled jerk, who puts himself before sharing the floor, sharing the limelight, or helping to facilitate the discussion for his co-author OR for his audience.  I thought that his epiphanies were aver-stated and bland.

Marci Alboher is relevant and respectful, concise and savvy, while I also give her an immense degree of credit for dealing with Ferriss in a professional and direct manner.  She dealt with the power-dynamics/levels very well, while being articulate through and through.  I’ve bought her book because of her contributions to this discussion (while Ferriss continued to say things like “dude!” or “hell!”.

Despite the personalities, however, this discussion was especially interesting in a number of ways because it addresses the fragmented nature of our identities.  Happiness, work, life, desires, meaning- they’re all there. Just like sexuality and reality, but it’s interesting to see how their perceptions of others’ existences is helping to re-focus their own lives.

I found it empowering, although, I wonder how this discussion actually relates to EVERYONE including groups not in the middle class.  They’re both Princeton graduates, you know?

What about Akhmed, who’s working in the falafel shop?  How’s this relate to single mom’s?

Perhaps, this is just my showing approval of a discussion which addresses middle-class professional limitations as an individual who will work within the legal profession… You know, like Judas?  Mmmmmm, Money for LAW!

Anyhow, the other very interesting aspect of today’s web-reading is this:GOOGLE HAS BEEN FACILITATING DISCUSSIONS ONLINE THROUGH YOU-TUBE!  Really, with discussions by authors, mayors, politicians, academicians, and other influential individuals such as Noam Chomsky, Mike Bloomberg, Barack Obama, etc.  It really is a wonderful resource for your minds.  I encourage you to listen, download, take it with you, etc., because a lot of these discussions address contemporary obstacles and thoughts in a novel manner.

Thank you for providing this service, Google.
